Catherine McKay (Director) was born in Dublin and began studying piano at the College of Music in 1985. In 1998 she was awarded a flute scholarship by the Royal Irish Academy of Music, winning first prize in the national Feis Ceoil competition in the same year. Catherine graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 2001 with a B.A. in Music and History. While there, she conducted both the college Chapel Choir and the Trinity Symphony Orchestra.

She graduated in 2004 with a Masters degree in Choral Direction from the Royal Academy of Music, London, where she was awarded the Alan Kirby Prize. Catherine worked as musical director on a national broadcast for Radio Telefís Éireann (R.T.É.) in Christmas 2005. She has studied with Patrick Russill, Peter Wright, Roland Berger, David Hill, and Jeremy Summerly. She is the director of the Junior Choir at the parish of St Luke’s and Christchurch in Chelsea.
